Poetry Slam 2025
A showcase of creativity and a celebration of spoken word poetry.
Year 12 students represented the Sixth Form with pride in October at our annual Poetry Slam Competition in the Library.
Our students talent, creativity, confidence and community spirit shone through for all to see. Poems ranged from including emotive themes around family, to playful humour and it was a delight to see students' unique writing styles and performance techniques come to life, with judges marking their efforts highly on all fronts. With movements that illustrated the content of their poems, to the use of puppets, our student’s confidence and performance skills were truly impressive.
Ms Crisp, Librarian said, “Our annual poetry slam competition was held on October 2nd to celebrate National Poetry Day. The competition was open to all students and staff who had to write and perform their own poem to enter. I was really pleased that we had the usual high number of entries again this year with students and staff returning to compete for a second time. All year groups from Year 7 to Sixth Form were represented, with the calibre of poetry written and the bravery of our students quite astounding – I am so proud of all of them. Well done to Laura who won this year’s trophy. We are planning to create a book for the library to include the poems and photos of this year's event for everyone to see.”
Well done to everyone who took part and to our wonderful audience members for cheering on all participants.
